Take on the Dealer Playing Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the most popular card games, with players enjoying it online and in land casinos right across the world. There are two primary reasons for Blackjack’s popularity, firstly, it is very easy to learn, and secondly, it gives players the chance to win a huge amount of money.

The aim of the game is to build a hand of cards that is as close in value to 21 as possible but without going bust. You compete against the dealer and as long as at the end of the round your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer’s is, then you have won.

In Blackjack, the numbered cards are worth their face value, the Face cards are all worth 10 and Aces are worth 1 or 11. Therefore, the strongest hand is an Ace and a Ten card as this makes 21 in the fewest amount of cards possible, it is known as Blackjack and it beats all other hands.

To start a round you first need to place your bet. You will then be dealt two face-up cards while the dealer will receive one facedown card and one face-up. You then have a number of options for your hand. The most basic option is to ‘Stand’, this simply means that you do not want any more cards. The next option is ‘Hit’, which draws another card from the shoe to your hand. As long as you have not gone bust, you can then choose from ‘Hit’ and ‘Stand’ again.

After you have finished playing your hand the dealer will then play. In most Blackjack games, the dealer will draw cards until their hand is worth at least 16 and stand as soon as it is worth 17. At the end of the round, you will receive your payout as long as your hand beats the dealer’s.

You will find that there are a few more betting options in Blackjack, and some games offer lucrative side bets. However, you should now know the basics of the game and can start having fun straightaway.
